Text - Matthew 5:13-16
You probably already know that 98% of children cry on their first day of school. But have you ever wondered why? One might say it's because they're scared of meeting new people or it's their first time in a school environment. But the peculiar thing is that these kids don't start crying until they notice that their parent or guardian who they came with is about to leave them on their own, and because they've not been on their own alone prior to that time they probably feel like something disastrous is going to happen to them.
A lot of Christians are like kids on the first day of school. Just like the kids do not want to leave their parents, we also do not want to “Grow Up”. Some of us want to be babies forever, being fed by God and other mature believers while not being useful to the economy of the master. This happens probably because a lot of us are scared of what the outcome would be if we take the step of growth.
For instance, a believer might try to avoid posting content about Jesus on his status because he feels others on his contact list might begin to treat him in a certain kind of way but we must come to the point where we regard ourselves the same way Jesus regards us - as light.
We must understand that God didn't call us into a ministry of stagnancy but one of growth and expansion and if you've tasted God truly, I doubt you would want to hide him from others.
In the midst of darkness, light is always different and strange so it's okay to be different and strange too in this world that is polluted with darkness
It’s okay for us to be the light and fearlessly so because we know we have an anchor. Someone we can run back to when we are confused - one who renews our strength every time we are weak because we have not been sent by ourselves and so there is a grace that we run with.
Remember that God didn't invest so much life and light in you just for you to hide it under a bushel. It would be unfair to God and to those whom Christ has surrounded you with. So today I leave you with the popular saying that as believers we should never forget. YOU WERE BORN TO BREED AND SAVED TO SERVE.
Why not serve God today by making him known and showing the world a glimpse of the light he has made available through you.
YOU HAVE A LIGHT THE WORLD NEEDS
