Text - Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time.
The second verse of Ecclesiastes chapter 3 says that there is a time to plant and there is a time to pluck what has been planted. The first few verses of that same chapter explain the different seasons of life and today, what sticks out to me is ‘seedtime and harvest’.
This principle has been so embedded in the minds of farmers that after they have planted their seed, they are not anxious everyday about why their seeds haven’t germinated yet. They have understood that for every seed, there is a period of waiting for it to germinate and come to full growth. Some seeds may grow faster than others, but ultimately at the end of the day, all good seeds will produce the required harvest.
Faith and patience are the virtues that the farmer has developed over time. Faith that what he has planted will surely blossom, and patience in the process that the seed has to undergo to become a fruit bearing plant.
Everyday we live, we plant some form of seed or the other. Our lives themselves are seeds. We all have faith that one day we will grow and bear fruit that would be of benefit to others but along the way we become anxious and forget that life is a process and that the farmer, who is God himself will make sure that in time we will come out beautiful; bearing the best possible seed.
Just like a good farmer, He will water us, prune us, and cut through our rough edges so that we become the best versions of ourselves. The process may be tough sometimes but at the end of the day, we will rejoice and many men will be refreshed by the fruits that we produce.
What growth processes are causing you anxiety today? Tell it to the husbandman. He will comfort you in these tough times and water you in your season of dryness. Philippians 4:6-7
