MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Text - Luke 2:12
“This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Hello Dear Subscribers and Readers, Merry Christmas!!! Today we celebrate and remember the coming of God to earth in human form - the Genesis of a 33-year-long salvation mission. I pray that you truly pause and reflect on God’s love this Christmas.
Over the years and in pop culture, Christmas has become synonymous with a lot of things - one of which is the art of GIFTING. From Santa Claus and little children to grown up’s - Christmas seems to carry the aura of giving and generosity. I know you’re probably expecting this to be one of many devotionals decrying the abuse of Christmas but this isn’t that devotional. I actually love the practice of gifting. Sure it can be dangerous when it takes centre stage but that was exactly what happened on the first Christmas.
In relation to gifts, Adults commonly say, “It’s the thought that counts”. Everyone craves a thoughtful gift - A gift you didn’t necessarily voice out but came to you either way and closed a gap - they’re the best kind of gifts.
At Christmas, God gave mankind the most thoughtful gift ever.
What makes the coming of Jesus special was mankind didn’t know they were expecting a gift or needed one - in fact, there was almost nowhere for him to be born despite prophecies centuries ago. But that same tiny child Lord has changed history forever! In him are redemption and freedom, hallelujah!
Romans tells us Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. Before we could reason and understand sin, Christ had died for us. For Christ to die, he had to be born born. Christmas was the genesis of God’s endless mind-blowing salvation scheme.
God who is perfect sent a perfect Gift to fulfil his perfect plan and bring us into his perfection.
This is the wonder of Christmas. Reflect today on God the father of every good and perfect gift and the father of lights. Think upon the gift wrapped in Bethlehem. And extend God’s love and Light to the world around you. Gift someone the greatest gift - HOPE.
Merry Christmas!!!
