Text – Luke 19:6
"Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy". Luke19:6 NLT
It's the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas! Christmas is the most buzzing, delightful, loving period of the year where Jesus Christ is celebrated for His coming in human form to save that which was lost. Inquiring from people, there are different sides to what Christmas is and how it should be. Some don't know that Jesus needs to know you, and you know Jesus to understand and appreciate the true meaning of Christmas. With all the excitement of Christmas, many are lost and roaming because they haven't made their hearts ready for who this saviour is.
In the Bible in Luke 19:1-10, we read the beautiful story of Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was described as a short, unscrupulous, wealthy fellow. However, he had been anticipating to see Jesus. He had money but he still desired Jesus in his life and to make him a permanent friend. Jesus knew the longing of His heart and answered his silent prayer. Jesus went to visit Zacchaeus, and Zacchaeus was very much ready and happy to receive him. From then on, everything changed for Zacchaeus' good. He repented and received Christ's salvation.
Takeaways From Zacchaeus Hosting Skills:
1. He yearned to see Jesus -Be desirous to see Jesus, that’s how he can come in.
2. He forgot how influential and wealthy he was and climbed a tree! Status should never hinder our longing to know Jesus. Do all within your reach to get to Him.
3. He was happy to receive Jesus. You have to have a joyful disposition in order to receive Jesus well. It’s not by force.
5. He repented from his old ways and followed Jesus. To let Jesus in, you have to get rid of every filth in your life by confessing to him. That's how Jesus can permanently make your heart His dwelling place.
It's great celebrating and enjoying all the goodies of Christmas, but if there's no room made ready in our lives for His dwelling, then all our glee and happiness of Christmas will be hollow.
Christmas is a time of love, warmth, joy and peace. Jesus is the center of the celebration, but many don't even have Him as a guest in their homes,in their hearts.
Are you preparing for Christmas without preparing your hearts for Christ Himself?
Now is the time to make the right decision like Zacchaeus did and let Him in. It’s a lifetime of bliss if you do. God bless you and a Merry Christmas in advance, my wonderful readers. Please enjoy Jonathan's, Make Room.
