Text – Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”
It is obvious from this scripture that just like a go-kart, there’s no space for more than one person in your heart. If you have a good driver in the go-kart, be sure that the vehicle will arrive at its destination safely but if there’s a reckless driver in it, then you can be sure the kart will be damaged.
“The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.” - John 10:10.
Who you make room for either makes or breaks you. The devil is that reckless driver. In fact, he is more reckless than a reckless driver. He is intent on damaging the vehicle. That’s his mission. Whoever gives the devil room will surely be destroyed. You may be asking, how do I give the devil room in my life? Good question.
You give the devil room when your focus is on anything but God.
So when you are focused on money, your family, your job, what to eat, etc. and putting them above God, you’re letting mammon control you.
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.” - Matthew 6:31-32
However, Jesus came to give life so he’s the most careful driver. Think of Him as the driver that wears a helmet checks all the lights, wears a seatbelt and obeys all the traffic rules. He will surely get you to the end because that’s also His mission.
You can give room to Jesus in your life by making Him the centre of your life. How can I do this you may ask? Another great question.
You can put Jesus first by making Him and what He loves the top priority in your life.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” - Matthew 6:33
When you make it your life’s mission to seek what pleases Him and when you desire to be righteous in all you do, you will be putting Him first.
You can find out what pleases Him by reading your Bible. There you will see all that you can do to put Him first. Remember, who you give room either makes or breaks you.
Give room to Jesus today.
