“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 NIV
The hearts of human beings have been wired by God to be focused, especially when it comes to the issues of love and worship. I believe that one man was made for one woman just as one man was made for one God but that is a story for another day 🙂. Today, we’re looking at how the Bible says the heart cannot be divided when it comes to worship. You know, like they say, the heart wants what it wants, and the heart cannot want two things at the same time. Jesus gave us a clearer picture of this. He said:
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money” - Matthew 6:24 NIV
I heard a man of God once say that God told Him to try to make one eye look up and the other eye to look down. When he tried and couldn’t achieve that feat, the Lord told him that a man cannot claim to be looking up to God while he is at the same time looking to man.
A man cannot claim to be looking up to God while he is at the same time looking to man.
I wrote a short poem to bring the message for today into perspective:
Heartracted
I got my first million dollars,
After many many years of hard work.
I put my money in the bank.
At night when I lay on my back,
I couldn’t help but think about the bank.
How’s the CEO?
And the Manager,
Are they in the right frame of mind?
When I need it will I get my money on time?
I hear people say ‘money on my mind’,
But I can’t keep my bank out of mine.
We’ll think more about the well-being of the kingdom of God if we invest more of our time and energies into the kingdom.
How can you begin to invest into the kingdom from today?
