Text - Matthew 5:14-16
"Yea are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hidden."
In a court setting, the prosecution stands at one side while the defence at the other side. The accused person is placed in the dock and is to hear his charge before His Lordship. Both counsel will present their cases for or against the accused, and the extent to his being found guilty depends on how incriminating the evidence is before the Court is.
Now, let's use Assumption Reality (AR) to do this: As a child of God, you are put in the accused dock to face a charge against you, for being a Christian.
Will so much evidence be put against you, that you are found guilty for the sake of Christ, or you will be discharged?
In my fellowship circle, this scenario was put in as a question to us, and it got me really in deep thought.
Many claim to be Christians today, but their lives are totally adverse to what they profess.
People cannot clearly even identify them as believers or not because they live a double or multiple lives, depending on how bad it is.
As children of God, there is a culture - there is a life we are to follow. We are not just like the rest, no. We are of God,His light to this world that lies in darkness (1 Jn.5:19).
The life of late Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was a Jewish-Romanian christian in a communist nation, and wrote the very famous, Tortured for Christ, tell us alot about our lives as Christians.
He encountered so great a deal of woes for being a Christian. He couldn't hide his identity, neither could others around him not attest to the fact that he was a christian, because he showed Christ, he spoke Christ, he lived Christ and was even persecuted for Christ.
Many of us have lost our identity in Christ. We have so blended with the world that even if we are tried for being Christians, we would be found innocent, when we are meant to be guilty!
Come to think of it, even Jesus Christ was charged because of us, and he was found guilty. How much more we? Are we guilty enough for His sake, or we are just lukewarm Christians?
Living as children of God in this world should be an always everyday thing. Let others see Jesus in you, and even if you are persecuted for it, it is all for the sake of Christ.
Infact, are we ready to suffer for Christ? should be another question we set our minds upon. This is because, if we are ready to suffer for Christ, then we will not be careful at all about showing the world who we belong.
The long and short of all this grammar is, children of God (if you say you are), if you are accused today for the crime of being a Christian, will so much evidence be found to justify this allegation, or you will be let off the hook?
If your answer is yes, well, I say, God bless you fellow pilgrim and Abba Father give you grace to stay true to the very end.
If your answer is no or I dont know, ask God to genuinely come into your life and be Lord and Saviour over it, and He will surely give you grace to be living witnesses for Him.
You are His light, and cannot be hidden. You have to shine forth His light, and let men see His light in you (look back critically, at the Anchor Scripture above).
Think about it and start doing the needful today.
God bless you. I love you.
