Text - James 1:5
James 1:5 shows us something about God that many of us haven’t taken time to reflect on much, but which – if we really do – is bound to lift us out of every pit of hopelessness and into a higher appreciation of God’s love and trust in His goodness and power. It says “If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God, [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.” (Amplified Classic Version).
He that lacks wisdom, in the passage above, can also refer to he that lacks any other thing, because the main point there is that whatever is lacked God provides.
Therefore, we want to focus on the second part: God the Giver of everything we lack in life – peace, happiness, health, money, safety, assurance, good jobs, healthy relationships, success in business, academics, marriage, etc.
“God is the Giver of all things”, our Scripture says, but notice some very significant and very revelatory things, which we all easily miss about God;
He is the giving God: This, to me, presents God as One Who is primed only to give and never to take. Really, all through Scriptures, in His relationship with man, don’t we see that He is the One Who is always giving? He started off by first giving us His nature and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27) and later went as far as giving us His own Son (John 3:16, 1st John 5:12), and of course everything in between. Understand that He is love and love gives.He gives liberally and ungrudgingly: If you think that God is the Creator and Source of all things that are good and needful for life and godliness then you will understand that there is no other way that He can give other than liberally and without reproach. The very idea of withholding comes from the sense of shortage and limitation that we know in this fallen world. (Matthew 14:14-21).He gives liberally and ungrudgingly: If you think that God is the Creator and Source of all things that are good and needful for life and godliness then you will understand that there is no other way that He can give other than liberally and without reproach. He gives without faultfinding or reproaching: Although He is perfect in holiness (1st John 1:5), God is not looking out for our faults and failures because He is believing the best of everyone (1st Corinthians 13). Rather, often we are the ones that fall short of His expectation of us walking in His light. Really, this is one area that far too many Believers still have a wrong perception of God: as a policeman going around with a flashlight, searching for the faults of His children and punishing them for it. That is far from Who God is, as we see revealed in the person of Jesus, the perfect revelation of God (John 14:9b, Hebrews 1:3a).HHe gives to everybody: God is not a respecter of persons, the Bible says in Romans 2:11, 10:11-12. His goodness, His salvation, His blessings, His covenant is to whosoever comes to Him and believes.

The giving nature of God means that there is no need that any human can have that God has no provision for and will not willingly and abundantly meet. That means your needs too.
The only requirement, as the verses following (James 1:6-8) indicate, is that we have faith; a faith that is strong, unwavering and stable, regardless of circumstances and contradictions, while giving thanks and praise to God (Romans 4:19-21).
