Text - Matthew 22:14
“For many are called, but few are chosen”
Have you ever had a missed call from an important person before? Maybe from a company you submitted your CV to and you were expecting to get a call from them? If you have, you’ll remember that it left you with regret especially if you tried to call and they didn’t respond. This regret is something that God never wants us to have. I’ve heard of many people in their old age who when asked if they had any regrets answered that they would have done things differently by doing what God had placed in their hearts to do.
First of all, God calls us into fellowship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ then He calls us to call others to fellowship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. Does that make sense?
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”” Isaiah 6:8 NKJV
God wants us to have ready hearts. He wants a people that are willing. He wants a generation of ‘Yes people’. Many times we don’t say yes to what God wants us to do because of fear. Like Jeremiah who said he was too young or like Moses who said he couldn’t speak, we also have our own excuses. However, when God wants to use us, our excuses mean nothing because He knows what He sees in us before deciding to use us.
Moses’ excuses didn’t hold water, neither did Jeremiah’s. As a matter of fact, the Lord’s tone started leaning towards the angry side of the tone spectrum. The Lord said to Moses, ‘I will help you speak’ and to Jeremiah, ‘Don’t say I am a child. I have made you a prophet to the nations.’
Today, God is reminding you that He knows what you are made of and what He can make you to become. All you need to do is say yes and He will help you speak, He will ‘make you a prophet to the nations’.
What is stopping you from saying yes to God? Can you begin to trust Him from today to make you who He wants you to be?
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” Zechariah 4:10
The Lord rejoices when you say yes because;
“He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”Philippians 1:6b NKJV
All you need to do is to say yes. You are not an after thought. Like a piece of a puzzle, no matter how crooked you are, you’re a very important piece of something bigger. When you play your part, the picture is complete.
