"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."
Luke 2:7 KJV
Everyone in Bethlehem and all the other Roman colonies at that time were busied with the preparation for the census. They were occupied with obeying this tyrannical government, that they didn't have any preparation for the Lord whom would have the government upon His shoulders (Isa 9:6-7). They took more time on what didn't really matter.
The story of the birth of Jesus has several experiences in this massive salvation story. One experience takes place when Mary and Joseph were at Bethlehem for the census. Mary was due for labour, but then there was no place for her to comfortably give birth to the son of God.
Many were in town for the same purpose of counting; rooms were booked down, even Joseph's family didn't have a room for him and his family. It was a sorry state.
There was no room. Even in her critical state, Mary couldn't get the empathy of others to give birth somewhere good. They were concerned with the census and how to get ready for it.
Thank God for His divine providence and the fact that He knows the end from the beginning, and He made the animal shelter available for the birth of His son. The devil had lost out in this round, lack of room couldn't stop God's divine plan for the salvation of man - even if man wasn't ready.
Dear friends, Christmas is here and it's a wonderful time. Family reunions, Company end-of-year stock-taking, Christmas bonuses at work, End of year parties at school, a lot of activities hovering to be attended to.
However, let's not forget why it's Christmas. It's all about Jesus.
Does He even have a place in your heart to start with? Does He have His seat in your home? Does He have His room at your workplace?
Don't be too occupied that you forget the reason why Christmas came, Jesus.
Now and always, we celebrate His glory in manifestation by His coming.
Show Him you're eternally thankful, and celebrate Christmas with Christ this season and always.
God bless you beloved.
